What Paul Tracey can say in an interview on
Doorbell Cameras:

1) It is more important to ensure your business is protected from cyber criminals now than ever.

The probability that a business will be attacked is 100% if the business has any device PC, laptop, cell phone, or IoT device that connects to the internet.

2) It is important for small businesses to identify and stop security breaches and IT issues BEFORE they ever happen.

The best way we can deter cybercriminals from committing these crimes is by reducing the effectiveness of the attacks and thereby reducing the financial incentives. This is vital to our economy.

3) The level of security that small business owners should look to achieve by the end of 2022:

Businesses need to continuously identify, protect, and remediate incidents at the very minimum. There are several frameworks that can support the development of these programs such as NIST 800.

4) The current labor shortage is affecting issues surrounding cybercrime.

This is a compounded issue that is beneficial to cyber criminals at this point. Hacker organizations are not restricted by law, they offer fast easy cash for all levels of hackers, and they don’t require five years of experience, background checks, and/or certifications. They can scale much faster than we can. What’s potentially the most dangerous is that companies are desperate and will likely hire candidates who aren’t fully qualified for the role.

5) Businesses can stay secure while employees are working from home.

Post-COVID, we know that working from home is no longer situation-specific and any business needs to have a work-from-home plan. The use of advanced VPN, virtual firewalls, and virtual networks allows us to provide the same corporate protection from anywhere that you would in your office.

6) Smart devices and IoT will affect security in the next few years.

These devices will be responsible for many breaches of networks over the next five years. Manufacturers of these products have been negligent in considering security in their hardware (firmware) and software (apps). It seems that action from manufacturers comes after an incident. We always recommend creating a VPN for all IoT devices.
