Some women feel safer taking bioidentical hormones compared to prescription hormone replacement therapy because of the belief that they have fewer side effects such as the risk of cancer; however, the scientific data is lacking.

When it comes to bioidentical hormone replacement, here are 5 myths:

 1. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is a medical term. It’s just a term used by makers of BHRT but it is not recognized by the FDA. 

 2. It’s safer than traditional hormone replacement. They are not safer just because they are “natural.” There is no convincing data that bioidentical hormones are more or less safe compared to traditional hormone replacement therapy.
