After a tumultuous year of COVID and social distancing, it looked like we were reaching the light at the end of the tunnel as restrictions started to loosen up, but unfortunately, it didn’t last long as the new delta variant is spreading rapidly.

People might be craving human connection more than ever and it is a vital part of our sense of wellbeing.  We need a tribe we can call our own or a support system where we can have that sense of belongingness. Having people we can talk to about anything that bothers us—relationship problems, health concerns, or maybe as simple as to what to have for dinner helps build our resilience to get through any challenge.

What Dr. Alice Fong can say in an interview
on Assumptions
:

Assumptions are the conclusions we draw based on the information we are given and our perspective and lived experience. We often think our assumptions are true without solid proof. People tend to make assumptions about so many things and this is natural. It happens as we try to make sense of things happening around us. However, while it is natural to make assumptions, they aren’t always correct. In a lot of cases, they can cause problems as we act based on what we believe is true without having the full context or understanding of the situation.

What Carol Barkes can say in an interview on
the Benefits of Mediation
:

 1. Leave your people at home (this includes friends, your mom or dad, new girlfriend, boyfriend, wife or husband). Of course, these people are on your side but they are often blinded by their bias for you. They are not living your stress or paying your bills so their recommendations are often short-sighted and can leave parents dealing with ramifications they had not intended. They also tend to fire up the other side. Mediators do not need character references. Save that for court if all else fails.

Available for Interviews: Carol Barkes

Carol Barkes is a conflict resolution expert, mediator, national speaker, educator and bestselling author who uniquely applies neuroscience to the fields of conflict resolution and negotiations. Her expert perspective is always fresh and relevant.

What Carol Barkes can say in an interview about Reconciliation:

The past year was fraught with anger, hostility, and dissension. How can we come together after a fight? Reconciling after an argument is largely a byproduct of a combination of techniques and skill development.  After mediating 1000’s of cases with disputing parties, Carol Barkes is certain about the following:

1)  There is no such thing as constructive criticism.  It is just criticism. Instead, try using a complaint that is focused on the problem rather than criticism of what the other person did.  This makes it less personal and puts the two parties on the same side of the table with the conflict on the other side.

Alice Fong, ND, is an integrative naturopathic doctor specializing in stress, integrative medicine, diet & weight loss, and is a business growth consultant for holistic healthcare providers.

What Dr. Alice Fong can say in an interview
Asian-American Bias/Violence
:

“Sometimes people express themselves with unknowingly racist comments or actions. We need to develop a greater cultural competency.”

Most of the time, racist words or actions are seemingly harmless, are just simply annoying, but ignoring the smaller issues can lead to division, greater misunderstandings—and larger issues that don’t get addressed can cause significant harm and distress. It should not be ignored that a significantly higher number of Anti-Asian hate incidents have occurred since the onset of the pandemic.  When it gets to the point where Asians and Asian Americans are treated ‘less than’ human and thousands of anti-Asian attacks have occurred across the country within the past year, it’s time to bring awareness and take action.
