What they can say:

-Your Kids’ backpacks are not only hurting them, it could be causing asthma! When the neck is stressed forward, those nerves are attached to the lungs.  There is a connection here.

-The American academy of pediatrics says the average weight of a 6th graders backpack is 18.4 pounds.

-A backpack should only be 10% of a child’s body weight

-Just tightening a backpack can make a big difference.

-To offset the weight of the backpack from the back , most kids help offset that weight by counterbalancing with forward head position creating poor pastoral issues which not only affect the joints of the neck but also creates excessive stress to the sympathetic nervous system creating focus issues, anxiety issues, depression, not to mention long term effects to the heart, lungs and digestive tract.

-Creates postural issues which compress the chest cavity, decrease lung capacity increasing risk for breathing issues such as asthma.
