What Chris Janeway can say in an interview about
Money Anxiety:

The greatest source of financial stress and anxiety is the fear of the unknown. We’re often terrified of digging into our numbers and finding out bad news. In reality, the truth is a liberating thing. More often than not, the fear is worse than the facts of anyone’s situation and once we pin down the facts, we can create the steps to progress forward.

The more educated families can become on their personal finances, budgets, and investments, the better they can control them rather than the other way around. When we face the facts, it’s easier to come to terms with bad news too. It’s easy to run up the credit card bill and “get to it later” during the holidays and other special events, but that’s not a plan and it can be devastating to your future.

A huge step toward success is making sure you’re on the same page as your spouse or loved one. Doing anything big with money without a plan creates unnecessary stress. It’s best to set aside quality time to sit down with our computers and map out the year ahead. Plan for those big events, budget for upcoming expenses, investments, education, travel, etc. Examine your debt, investments, and retirement accounts. It can seem tedious, and it is, but we leave that “date night” with a plan that builds trust and reduces an incredible amount of stress. It makes us better partners, better parents, and saves our wallets in the long run.

Especially during times like now, when the markets seem shaky, inflation is high, and there’s ambiguity in how the pandemic might affect us next, burying our heads in the sand is a risk we cannot afford to take. Hire a professional advisor or personal financial planner to stay on track to meeting your goals and securing your future.
