What Paul Tracey can say in an interview on
Google’s New Cybersecurity Team:

    • Having more security on all platforms is a necessity and for that reason, we applaud any efforts at hardening systems in the cloud and on-premises. From the information we currently have these services would only affect services within Google’s workspace cloud infrastructure. Although this is a step in the right direction, It can also provide a false sense of security. We have seen that there is a consensus that because a company utilizes cloud services they aren’t at risk of a cyber-attack and this approach is just plain wrong.

    • As a result of this new development, we expect to see beta rollouts of new security services around Google’s operating system devices with a major push to convert PC and Mac users to Google’s operating system. We expect to see very little communication with non-customers outside of the normal “we are enhancing security” messages we are used to.
    • The one glaring downside to Google’s developing a new cybersecurity team would be the misconception that because google has increased security an organization can relax or not implement necessary internal security measures. Every business is different in its own way and must take the appropriate security processes for its unique situation.
    • We strongly believe that security is dependent upon third-party verification and collaboration. We applaud any efforts to bring more transparency and layers of security to any platform. Google’s prior security efforts, while important, did not address the rapid escalation and sophistication of attacks on their platform and browser. We believe this will be a step in the right direction.
