What Harry Abramhamsen can say in an interview:

• • • It is absolutely essential to make sure you have proper legal counsel. All too often people may use a friend who is a lawyer who does not specialize in family law. Make sure you like the lawyer and there is a good sense that this is the right person for the job.  If it doesn’t feel right, do not use the attorney.

• • • Get all your finances in order. Have copies of all investment statements, life insurance policies, and back statements. If you have a Will, make sure you include that with all your paperwork. Make three copies of everything. One copy will be for the attorney and the other two copies are for your records. It’s good to have a backup copy for yourself.

    • Do not do something that will create a long-term problem for yourself. It will make things worse in the long run.

    • Try to maintain paying bills so your credit score doesn’t get impacted.

    •  If you have young children, they should ALWAYS be protected and not involved in any way. Try to get through this life event so you have a nice adjusted family life.
