What Harry Abramhamsen can say in an interview on
The Current Stock Market:

If you have an old 401 (k) or IRA and experienced market volatility over the past year you may want to prepare yourself so you can capitalize on another dip.

If the markets drop significantly you may want to consider cashing out and paying the early tax penalty.

Here is why:

The portfolio would be taxed as ordinary taxable income plus the 10% early tax penalty on a much lower account value. Pay tax on the smaller harvest than the full crop.

No Wash Rule. Pay taxes based on today’s tax rates and since there is no 30-day wash rule, you can purchase the exact same investments and wait for the markets to come back.

Lower taxes on your retirements assets so your future tax rates will be based on capital gains vs. ordinary income tax rates.
