What Harry Abramhamsen can say in an interview on
Financial Planning For the Future:

There are risks that are regularly discussed: trade wars, the next quarter’s returns, budget deficit forecasts, and elections. But the real risks are the things that aren’t being discussed yet—the ones that weren’t predicted: pandemics, September 11, Pearl Harbor, the Lehman Brothers not being able to find a buyer. (Yes, 2008 was so devastating that the name Lehman Brothers, one of the most prestigious financial institutions in the world at the time, was treated like a leper because of their balance sheet.)

What You Can Do

    • Have cash in hand. If you lose your job or the ability to make a living, it is important to have money available in case of emergencies or unplanned events. If you don’t have any money saved up, temporarily stop your 401 (k) to free up money. If you receive a tax refund you can also bump up your W 4 exemptions to free up extra cash for today.

    • Have a backup plan so you can earn a living. If you are working today make sure you have things in place in case times revert back to the height of the pandemic. Make sure you can click a switch and stay in business or work through difficult times.

    • Protect what you have. Maybe it is time to take some of the chips off the table. The markets have been strong for close to 13 years.  Diversify a portion of your portfolio into fixed guaranteed products to lock in any gains.
