The Power of Thank You in a Crisis

All of us are seeing celebrations on a daily basis to thank the health care workers, first responders and essential workers.  But what are companies doing on an individual basis to thank their “essential” employees who are showing up in tough times to keep the organization going and the paychecks flowing.

CPP Global, a N.C. based client of mine who is a manufacturing  and design services company of plastic injection molding products, shows us the Power of Gratitude in a business.  I always advise my clients in all times to do a better job of celebrating worker’s successes.  They took this concept to the highest level.  Many of their executives and front office workers got together- remotely off course, to authentically thank all the factory workers who showed up in tough times to keep the business going, while practicing all CDC guidelines.


The result:  It was a great team building exercise for the whole company.  Relationships were strengthened as people got to know each other on an intimate level by seeing them in their own environments, showing off skills others may not know about.  A lot of fun was also injected into the workplace at time of crisis.

The main result- the plants workers expressed great appreciation for their efforts, enjoyed it.  It was fun.  Most of all, they felt valued.  Some comments included “Awesome CPP Family. Be safe and work together we can get through Covid-19”.  How much would you give to have your employees feel that way.  Follow the CPP Example.

CPP executives took a tough situation and through gratitude turned it into positive.
