What Dr. Kelly Waltman can say in an interview
on Feedback in Business
:

    • It’s essential to give and receive both positive and critical feedback on a regular basis. Effective feedback is a two-way street, and when you cultivate a feedback culture, everyone is giving and receiving feedback at and between all levels. This means that leadership is giving and receiving feedback, and team members are giving and receiving feedback to one another.

    • There are 5 components of effective feedback. I developed the STOPS acronym to help people remember the components: Safe Space, Timing, Objective, Posting & Critical, and Specific.
    • Learn how to receive feedback effectively: Resist the urge to respond immediately; Sit alone and process the feedback you received (try to see the issue from the other person’s perspective, even if you don’t agree with the feedback you received); After a day or two, circle back with the person and process the feedback with them.
    • While giving and receiving feedback (especially critical feedback) will always be a little uncomfortable, the more it becomes a regular part of a team’s dialogue, the more comfortable it becomes.
