What Leni Rivera can say in an interview
on Building Enthusiasm for Returning Employees
:

    • Acknowledge apprehension. Coming out of the pandemic is like coming out of a war. Fear and apprehension are not only normal, it’s expected. Instead of fighting against this, companies that are most successful at easing employees back to the workplace, are leaning into it.

    • Optimize the workplace. What made the workplace great before the pandemic? Identify and emphasize them. Here are 3 examples:
        1. “It’s easier to focus in the office, with less distraction.”
          • Designate individual workstations. Highlight phone rooms, meeting pods, quiet work areas.
        2. “Collaboration with teammates.”
          • Have plenty of spaces for all kinds of collaborations: fully equipped conference rooms, lounge areas with whiteboards, and creative spaces, etc.
        3. “Casual interactions among colleagues.”
          • Enable this by placing seating areas in break rooms, livening up the lunchroom with music, put out light snacks and beverages in common areas.
    • Celebrate re-entry. Provide welcome kits with freebies and safety tools, have music playing at the reception, provide free donuts or bagels, host cocktail hour or game day. Focus on bringing people together for fun.
